Hi friends! This week officially begins our season of SPRING! Are you as excited as I am?! I’m not sure if it’s because I’m California spoiled, but I literally CRAVE that sunshine like I crave chocolate cake… It looks like the rain is sticking for a little while longer here but we’ve gotten some glimpses of nice weather and it’s been amazing!

The nice weather leaves me feeling super inspired and productive again. Productive enough to finally get to sharing our wonderful 6th birthday party we threw a few weeks ago for our very fancy six year old! SIX you guys… how did SIX whole years fly bye without even a blink? Ahh it’s insanity friends. And also not fair. I keep telling these kids they aren’t allowed to grow anymore but somehow it just keeps happening… WAHHH!

Park Plans Change

Back to the party..! We originally planned to have it at our nearby park but the rain kept showing up just to remind us that nope a park birthday is not in fact happening this year. *Sigh* I was seriously bummed at first because I love having parties where the kids get to run around and just BE KIDS. You know what I mean? I thought and thought… hmmm where can kids have loads of fun, is indoors, and reasonably priced? Aha! That little light bulb finally went off. WHAT ABOUT BUSY KIDZ IN FOLSOM?!

We love heading to Busy Kidz for play dates and enjoying yummy drinks like my favorite latte and green tea. It is such a treat to have a wonderful place to let the kids roam around, use their imaginations, and get all that energy out!

It is adorable as well since it’s set up like a little town with sectioned rooms set up as a fun theme. A little town for little busy kids! I’ll show you the cute rooms in a bit!

Convenience and Ease

Setting up the birthday was super easy. I checked their party packages online and called right away. The owner Jennifer was super helpful and just my luck, the weekend I had in mind was available at a great time! Conveniently, they do private and semi-private parties Friday through Sunday. Sundays and Fridays are available at a discounted rate and if you are a member you get an additional discount. What I love about their membership is that each month your child will receive a special gift from them! We’ve gotten fun coloring books, paint sets, and bracelets before. The kids love this part!

Another thing I love about their party packages is that they will set up for you ahead of time if needed. So helpful! They even have themes to choose from so you can literally pick a theme, and just show up to your party to fully decorated tables, party favors, balloons and more. If you are a last- minute party person, or don’t have the time to gather party decorations, then this option is perfect for you!

Party Planning and Details

Once we got the location squared away it was time to finalize all the fun details (which is of course my favorite part!). My daughter had told me she wanted a Fancy Nancy theme and I was on board right away. I realized there was an upside and a downside to the theme…

The downside: no stores carried very much product for the theme. I found paper plates online and some napkins but that was about it. Nothing in store.

The upside: Fancy Nancy is a very broad theme and if you just think to yourself “What would Nancy do?” everything just seems to fall into place!

Flowers FTW (For the Win)

Suddenly I was thinking flowers, butterflies, boas, lollipops, tea sandwiches… all things that Nancy adores! (*Side note: don’t you love how your favorite book characters seem to become people you really know?!) I knew I wanted to be budget friendly so I headed to the dollar tree for some fake florals, vases, table cloths, and even fun butterflies! Also, I scored some serving platters, pretty napkins, and utensils. Literally saved a BUNDLE by shopping dollar tree first!

A week before the party, I also happened to spot cute spring party decor at Target that I scooped up right away. A fun paper table runner and cute coral colored plates with a scallop detail just screamed fancy, and I’m happy I snagged them when I did because they FLEW off the shelves.

Cute Target spring plates, napkins and table runner!

Let Them Eat Cake

As far as planning for food (something I value highly for parties), I decided to go easy on myself. Normally I cook a lot of food. Like A LOT. Way too much and it’s always delicious, but I end up putting in long hours on my feet and then feeling tired and groggy the day of the party. With that in mind, here is the menu I came up with:

PB&J’s

Cheese, crackers, pretzels

Berry Salad

Pinwheels

Veggie Tray

Cake (duh!)

So essentially, I figured I’d only make the berry salad and sandwiches. Easy Peasy! Plus, all so easily transported.

Ready to Party!

After I crossed off the major list items, we just sat back and waited for the party! There wasn’t much prep aside from rolling the utensils in the napkins (which the big 6 year old was happy to help with), making the two food items, and whipping up some simple favors!

We arrived and immediately were greeted by the party attendant with a “what can I help you with?” She worked so quickly and we set up everything within a matter of minutes! Our fancy guests arrived and parents filled out a waiver while the kids placed their shoes (leaving socks on) in the cubby. The kids didn’t waste any time and got lost in their own little worlds! My favorite room was the classroom because my little birthday girl had a blast playing “teacher” with all her friends.

I loved that parents could chat and order their favorite drinks right from the coffee bar. It was a rainy day after all so we appreciated the nice pick-me-up of a warm drink.

Here are all the fun little details!

Edible flowers make all food instantly fancy. The kids loved sneaking these in when I wasn’t looking…

I loved the layered plates and the cute lollipop favors we made with the dollar tree butterflies!
Our favorite Fancy Nancy book on the cake table with balloons helped to tie the theme altogether since we didn’t end up finding the themed party decor.
I can’t believe I’m the mommy of a 6 year old!
The wonderful drink and snack bar. Their drinks are super yummy and wouldn’t you believe it they will deliver it to your car if needed!

This is surely one birthday we will never forget! If you are in the Sacramento area you simply must check out Busy Kidz in Folsom. The kids haven’t stopped talking about the party since and I’m still so grateful we were able to pull of a cute and fun party with last minute changes due to poor weather. I hope you all have a great weekend and that Spring inspires you to get creating some special memories with your loved ones!
