Thrill of Home by Alyssa Touches of Fall Decor Ideas

Fall-la-la-la-la friends! It’s that time again where the basic fall loving, leaf watching, scarf wearing, boot stomping, PSL latte drinking total FALL FIEND comes out in each and every one of us 😂. Okay maybe I exaggerated a tiny bit..? It would be silly to group us ALL into the crazed Fall fan category but with my experience (cough cough age) the older I get the more I lean into the cozy season of Fall. Based off of my research on Instagram most of you feel the same way but wherever you land on the Fall Fiend Spectrum I’m excited to share with you all how I have decorated our rental home with some super cozy and affordable Fall home decor!

Pumpkins Optional

Specifically I want to highlight the importance of pumpkins in the Fall- to which I will be sharing all NON-PUMPKIN decor ideas. That’s right, aside from that sentence above (okay and this one) there will be no mention of pumpkin decor. Layer in pumpkins as your heart desires. But I’m here to relieve you of your pumpkin compulsive decorating disorde aka PCDD-yeah I just made that a thing 😅. Did you take a sip of your PSL each time you read “pumpkin”? Good. PUMPKIN. Moving onto our Fall home decor post now…

Pick Your Colors

Now that we’ve gotten the “p” word our of the way and out of our little Fall frenzy decor systems… here is what I did to decorate our rental house and really cozy up for Fall. When I asked a poll on Instagram the other day if you all decorated with Fall decor neutrals or fall decor in traditional orange Fall colors it was almost about 50/50! I encourage you to do what speaks to your heart. For me, Fall speaks to me through muted blush tones and creamy beiges. If you are confused as to what your heart loves, play with colors in your home and see what makes you feel the most peace and comfort.

I also highly recommend checking out this post here where I explain in detail how to curate your own perfect aesthetic..! It’s what helped me really hone into my own unique signature style and get on track to decorating our home with purpose.

While on the topic of finding my own unique home aesthetic, here are some photos from last year’s Fall home decor! Is my love for dried florals obvious yet?

Kitchen Fall Decor

Welcome to our rental home kitchen! I kept things light with pops of color here and there to wake up those brown cabinets. I placed a tea kettle on the stove with a beige striped kitchen towel, then created a simple olive oil + salt station to the left. A fun Fall decor element I added was this pretty vase with the wooden spoons! Trade out your own utensil crock for a pretty vase and watch the magic unfold 🤩. A pretty house plant (this one if from Costco) layered over your favorite cookbook also makes for a simple understated and cozy vibe.

Clean Counters

No matter the season clean counters are always the ultimate vibe 🙌. To keep counters clear (for all of that cooking and baking we’ll be doing this Fall and Winter) I utilized storage bins for our blender, knife block, and toaster. If I could have it my way, I’d have a separate butler’s pantry to store these..! But even just having them organized this way makes such a difference. It really helps to make your hard earned Fall decor really stand out too.

Edible Decor

Am I the only one who thinks fresh baked goods make for the best cozy Fall decor? What else says Fall like something fresh from the oven?! Okay so I didn’t have any homemade goodies to share this day so Fig Newtons it was 😂. I like to put a covered cake stand either on the kitchen counter or directly on the dining room table with some goodies inside! When people come into our home I want them to feel right at home and grab something yummy to snack on. HYGGE.

Fall Coffee Bar

A coffee bar is attainable for everyone! That’s why I love them. They can easily be over complicated but as you can see below, they are as simple as can be. I grabbed a wire shelf rack (we already had it for pantry organization), my favorite mugs, some spoons, a pretty faux flower arrangement along with my favorite quote that I always make sure to see every morning when I pour myself a steaming cup ☕. There are sooo many adorable Fall home decor mugs out there, have you find some that speak to you yet?!

Minimal Bedroom Touches

For the bedroom I keep things pretty minimal. This bleached wheat wreath really makes a Fall statement without being over done! Try changing out spring/summer pillow covers for muted tones like greens, browns, or any other Fall colors you love. I love a simple seasonal bedroom!
