Welcome to the (almost) weekend friends! Today I am sharing a fun activity we did last weekend. It’s been pretty rainy here in our usually sunny state of California and I’m not sure if it’s the fact that we are stuck indoors or that I am wishing that rain would magically turn to snow… BUT we were just itching for some sensory bin fun! This one imitates the look and feel of real snow but doesn’t require any bulky winter wear or toddler meltdowns… Triple Win!  It also only requires 3 INGREDIENTS!!! One of which is water and the other of which is optional… so technically we can say only two ingredients needed. It cost less than two dollars to make so it’s also CHEAP! Alright a sensory activity that is cheap, easy, AND will keep your kids from going stir crazy on a rainy day? TELL ME YOU’RE IN!!!

Here’s how to make it:

You will need

2 (1 lb) boxes of baking soda

1 cup of water + 4 tbsp

Glitter (optional)

First dump baking soda and add glitter if you desire. No measuring, just go for it!

Then add 1 cup of water and stir until all ingredients are moistened. Then add the 4 tablespoons of water if needed. (This will depend on if you decide to use glitter or not)

Pop in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.

Add to a large plastic tub or divide onto individual plates. We decided on one big bin to share!

Everything from here is the fun part! Add cups, spoons, special characters (dinosaurs, trucks, and princesses ended up in ours!)

The kids had fun making tracks in the “snow”, building snowmen, cutting snow, and more!

It did ended up getting a little on the rug and floor which made me freak out (a very tiny bit) at first..! But when it was time to clean up everything got vacuumed up no sweat. It is made out of baking soda after all and I’m pretty sure my floors appreciated the deep cleaning!

AND the best part is the snow can be kept in a freezer bag to be taken out when the urge to play with snow strikes again!

I hope you give this fun activity a try and let me know how it goes! Don’t forget to pin to your Pinterest board if you have one. Thanks for stopping by and I hope have a fun-filled rest of your day!
