Well hiiii there!! Long time now write. I’ve missed sharing updates with you all here on my corner of the internet. Honestly, I’ve been working on creating fun video content via Instagram reels and Tiktok… it’s been fun but I’m ready to get back to the fun here 🥰. This post includes all of my recent spring diy decor projects. If you are looking to sink your teeth into some diy home fun then this one is for you!
All tutorials can be found on my Instagram right here and/or Tiktok @thrillofhome.
Sponge Accent Wall
With just a sponge from the dollar tree store and leftover paint samples, you can create a beautiful accent wall that looks like wallpaper! To acheive this dusty muted pink color I used a mixture of these leftover paint samples from Sherwinn Williams HGTV by Lowes: Malted Milk and Rugged Coast.
Simple Ikea Dresser Makeover
I’m a huge fan of IKEA hacks! If you are looking to update a piece of furniture you already own, try adding a touch of glam by spray painting the hardware metallic gold. Then layer in decor accent pieces to make the whole space look and feel like a piece of art.
Goodwill Lamp Makeover
The great news is that thrift stores carry so many pretty lamp bases! Grab a lamp base and paint it a high gloss color for some visual impact. I chose these lamp bases for their fluted detail… anyone else so into the art deco trend right now? This looks like a lamp from CB2 or West Elm but for hundreds of dollars less 👍. Add a lamp shade and you’re done!
Tablecloth Turned Bed Canopy
Now here is a diy that I’m really over the moon about! Using command hooks for this project means no drilling into the wall. We grabbed a simple dowel from Lowes and this lace tablecloth from the goodwill store to create a Parisian inspired bed canopy. Another option would be to use sheer curtains! Since we have an off center window in our bedroom this little hack tricks the eye into forgetting all about that off center window situation,
Dollar Tree Store Hula Hoop Wreath
By far, my favorite DIY I created this Spring was my dollar store hula hoop wreath for the porch! You all went a little gah gah over it and so did I because it was so fun to put together. I love how using a large or medium sized hoop will create a dramatic scale that is just perfect for large wide open walls such as the porch or backyard patio. When I tell you our porch was so bland before I made this wreath, I mean it! Now I enjoy sitting out here with a good cup of coffee and book… proof that a visit to the dollar tree store can change your whole life 🤗.
$1 Modern Pedestal Bowl
Grab those 50 cent bowls and plates from Target (you know the ones) and glue them together like this for that trending pedestal decor look that is both minimalistic and modern. Feel free to paint this one in a matte black or white for a true ceramic look or leave as is for a fun pop of color. I placed my bowl on the mantle with a little plant baby and some wooden beads but this piece also works well for coffee tables, entry way tables, side tables and more.
DIY Butler’s Pantry Ikea Hack
Never has an Ikea Billy Bookcase been more versatile! After I wallpapered these bookcases, I used them as office storage, then as a hutch and now as a pretty butler’s pantry with self serve snack station. Don’t let the idea of having a small home hold you back from living big in your home. This project goes to show that anyone can have a fancy butler’s pantry… bonus, you’ll have fun organizing it if you’re nerd like me 😎.
DIY Anthropologie Inspired Gold Mirror
Okay I lied about the hula hoop wreath being my favorite project because this Anthropologie Inspired Mirror may take the cake 😍😍. If you don’t want to spend $$$$ on the real thing, make your own with any old framed mirror you have lying around. This frame came from our bathroom so the entire project cost less than $20. Here is the link to the original blog post tutorial sharing exactly how I created the Anthropologie Gold Mirror on an extreme budget!
