Hey guys! I have missed sharing these fun projects with you all. It really feels like Christmas morning sharing this little space with you all. This is the most simple project that took the longest to be honest 🤦‍♀️. My heart has been all over the place with current events but these projects bring back happiness so I’ve made them a priority again and happy to be sharing again!!

Scaling Back

Since our drop off zone is directly in the entry of our home where guests enter, I wanted to scale back and rethink how much “dropping off” we’d be doing at the door. I didn’t want to walk in the house and feel immediately overwhelmed by all of that stuff we’ve collected in our drop off zone. That’s SO easy to do. This project’s idea was led by how much peace we could feel simply by walking through the front door. I moved things around like so:

  • A simple cube storage in my room for shoes and purses
  • Hooks for backpacks in the kid’s bedroom
  • Limit 2 shoes each in entryway basket
  • Over the door shoe organizer for extra shoes in kid’s bedroom
  • Hooks inside of pantry for keys and grocery bags

Our small entry way is just a few feet away from our bedrooms! I’d say it’s the perk of having a small home. With all of these storage solutions in place it was time to create the most peaceful and minimal entryway.

The Before:

This is the only photo I have of the process! I had taken so many but I lost the card it was on… I’d say an organized office space should be my next project haha!

The grey on bottom was the original color of the walls. I painted only half white because I knew we’d add bead board. That’s the sander we used to flatten the textured walls.

Beadboard

I’ve always loved bead board and heard how simple it is to work with… not to mention how cost effective it is. We decided to give it a go and I’m so happy we did because it’s such an easy project! Simply buy the material, cut it to size and use liquid nails to secure. Finish off with trimming, baseboard, filler to mend nail holes, and paint of course. For textured walls like ours: sand them down a bit with a sander for a smooth even surface (our sander linked above). Be prepared to touch up the walls surrounding the bead board with your wall paint color. Our walls are in Alabaster White by Sherwinn Williams from Lowe’s.

And speaking of paint..! I wanted to get brave with a fun new color that we’ve never used before. I chose Behr Premium Paint in Mesa Sand. It’s the prettiest most subtly sandy pink. I was so surprised my husband went for it! It’s actually not a super “girly pink” color, it really does remind us of a sandy beach!

The Whole Look

Once the bead board was in and painted it was time to decorate. I thought about having my husband build a small entry way bench but I used the one we had previously and it looks great! The whitewashed finish of the bench adds to the “beach vibes” look.

Entryway Bench

The bench I have was an online find from tjamxx from two years ago. It’s actually an outside bench! Here are some of my picks that meet the mark on style, functionality, and affordability!

Shoe Storage

Some of the bench options above already include basket storage. I ended up using a basket that I already had (the perk of being a basket hoarder 🤣). An open weave design is such a beautiful and functional way to store a pile of shoes which is otherwise such an eyesore. The exact basket hat I have as is out of stock so I am sharing this amazing option. It’s also larger but comes in three different sizes depending on your shoe storage needs.

Pillows

A fun pillow is such a great way to showcase your own style! The options are endless. My exact pillow is an outdoor pillow and also on major clearance! I’ve included other options as well.

Hanging Plant + Wall Quote

It’s really not complete until there’s a plant somewhere 😉. This hangjng macrame plant holder was only $10 and I love the instant boho look it creates. The plant is from Lowes as well as the black plastic pot with bottom. The quote is from a Janessa Wait Shop and it reads “and in every season I will praise Him”. I’ve included another adorable wall quote that is already framed!! A classic black and white wall accent always seems to complete any space ❤.

My Outfit

Side note: I love these jeans! The fit is just right with a stretch waist band is the perfect wash. I’m wearing a size 24 bottom! My blouse is super sweet and comfy. The Dalmatian print gets me 😍. I’m wearing a size XS but could size down!

Hooks?

Back to home decor… If you notice, there are no hooks in this little drop zone entry way. But this step can’t be missed! Instead of placing the hooks here, I decided to use the adjacent wall to place them. I also want to paint a fun DIY accent wall so stay tuned… I’m crossing my fingers I get that one done today after I share this post!

Thanks for tuning in here guys. I’ll be sharing an up close look on my Inststories here. Be sure to subscribe to the blog and I’ll send you some free entertaining goodies like my Sangria Bar Printable and more!!
