The kids are getting bunk beds! And sharing a room again. If there is anything this time has taught us, it’s just how blessed they are to have each other. I decided to give them a room to share to celebrate what a blessing their special bond is. I went back and forth on this but ultimately realized just how amazing this could work out for our family!
Rethinking a New Space
The room my daughter currently has is HUGE. We are turning that into a play/school room so this shared bedroom will not have toy clutter 🙌. As far as the shared bedroom details… I want to create a safe and inspiring place for rest as well as well as an encouraging spot to let them feel powerful in who God created them to be. My hope is they wake up inspired and that’s why this bedroom design is full of happy colors, real plant life, and gorgeous art with meaningful messages.
California Boho
I’m calling this shared bedroom design “California Boho” for it’s minimal design and happy prints! Although I adore wallpaper for it’s punch of personality, my little tip for the same effect is to find curtains in fun patterns, hence these amazing blackout curtains in sunshine yellow. To cut back on costs, we are choosing an Ikea bunk bed… it’s under $200 and I personally love the wood grain look, although it can also be painted if that’s more your speed. Also to cut back on costs we are using our current rug in a neutral Moroccan print..! It’s a favorite.
Ikea Hack
Another Ikea find is this Malm dresser that I plan to add wooden pegs to the bottom of for a mid century modern vibe. The gorgeous wall hanging really caught my attention for it’s positive affirmations! I love that this will be the first thing the kids see when they wake up each morning.
