Hello all!

If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed a droopy eyed, wet nosed, and fidgety little tail wagger whom we call Sammy. A sweet 45 pound female boxer who loves my roasted sweet potatoes and giving the wettest of kisses! Somehow she has never made her appearance here on the blog or in my feed… Gasp! Well all of that is about to change because this entire post is dedicated to her.

A little backstory on Sammy…

We got her from my cousin who was a dog breeder and pet shop owner at the time. Being that my cousin’s shop was back in our hometown two hours away from us, I picked her out from pictures he sent us. We both agreed we wanted the cute little pup with “white socks” on her feet.

The first photos of our girl!

My husband and I were going on our second year of marriage, I was 6 months pregnant with our first and we had just bought our first house. The day we moved out of our apartment and into our home, was the first time we got to meet her! My mom, dad, and niece brought her up to us and helped us move some stuff in the new house. I’ll never forget sitting in what seemed to be a huge house (coming from our small apartment), with nothing but a brown coach from Big Lots, boxes everywhere, and just cuddling her on that couch. We all took turns getting our puppy fix when the daunting task of moving proved to be a little too much.

First day in our home + the cuddle couch
Puppy Sammy!

Since that day of cuddling the puppy with big floppy ears and feet, so many adventures have been had. Many things have also been destroyed from her early years (said every fur mama ever!) but the good memories far outweigh the stuff lost. It’s just stuff after all isn’t it?

Without further adieu, let’s get on with this recipe I created using ingredients we both love! And if I am being honest I did try the treats and I am proud to say they are Sammy approved. They’re wholesome enough for us non fur creatures to enjoy, and that’s a win in my book. No crazy ingredients, no grain, and no nonsense. Let’s get to it!

You will need:

1 Cup Mashed Sweet Potatoes

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

1/4 Cup Coconut Flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Simply add the peanut butter and mashed sweet potatoes with mixer until combined.

Next add coconut flour and continue mixing until combined.

Roll the dough onto a clean surface and gently roll out with a rolling pin to 1/4 inch thickness.

Gently lift the shapes from the surface. Since the dough will be moist you can use your fingers to shape the cookie back together.

Bake for 30 mins.

Remove and let cool before serving!

For leftovers store in the fridge in an airtight container.

Notes :

  • Be sure to let the treats cool completely before storing as to not let moisture accumulate making the treats a softer texture.

That’s it! Simple and dog lickin’ yummy.

My daughter and I had so much fun making these together. And Sammy was just happy to get some special treats just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Looking rather unimpressed

I hope you give ’em a try and let me know how it rates on the pup-o-meter.

We love you Sammy girl!
