The season of love is closely upon us…! If there is one thing I love more than anything it’s chocolate cake. Second to chocolate cake is paying ONE DOLLAR for things! There is just some type of unsuspected high that comes along with seeing that $1 price tag. And Target NAILS one-dollar items every time! How genius is Target to place cute seasonal items directly upon entrance that all cost in the range of five dollars or less? It’s safe to say none of us are arguing with Target’s level of genius… because we’re all hopelessly addicted… Am I right?
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner we couldn’t help but pick up these sweet craft items. What I love about Valentine’s day is that it gives little ones a chance to make something special for all of their friends. I love watching them work joyfully and diligently on their cards. Their little faces light up as they tell me which friend is getting which card. Plus it’s the absolute perfect season for expressing themselves and I’m all for it!
Some items I will be saving for a special V day breakfast come February 14, and others we opened up right away for a fun rainy day of stampin’, painting, and stickers. Bonus, we also made a super cute banner for the fireplace to get us in the ‘lovey” spirit. Here are our Target Dollar Spot items we used and my top picks for this season of heart crafting fun..!
First up are these adorable stickers. I bought each of my kids one of their own to ward off any potential sibling rivalry. Sometimes we teach our kids to share, and other times we don’t. Well, because they’re only ONE DOLLA! (Ps. I love you Target)
Next up cards of course…
And STAMPS! It is so cute to watch them stamp away with their little hands. We even bought stamp markers although these were not found in the dollar spot.
The kids were excited to find out that the markers had fun fruity scents which totally brought me back to my own elementary school days!
These adorable wooden clips were just begging me to take them home. I love how versatile they are. We used them to make our banner but they would also make for a cute goody bag clip!
These paint sets are technically not V day inspired but I never pass up a good paint session so I threw these in too because… when at Target right??!
These super cute cake stands really spoke to me when I saw them… I heard them say “put a sprinkle cupcake on me!” Who am I to say no to a talking cupcake stand? I can’t wait to use them! They come in clear or red.
The next few items will be used for a special breakfast come the day of love. I simply adore the pom pom detail and heart shape of the place mats. I bought the ones with black trim but rest assured they also come in a red trim option! They were $3 for a pack of two. The “I love you” plates were not found in the dollar spot but in the arts and crafts section. They were $2 each, not bad! Their sweet detail and color help to bring the whole look together. Here they are with all of the above items together!
And now for all of the rainy day fun we had! The kids got right to work stamping, putting stickers on and coloring. Each card they finished they had to exclaim “Done Mommy!” followed by which friend the card was for. I just live for these moments!
After we finished up cards we made a cute banner for our fireplace using the wooden heart clips and some card stock paper I cut to size. They stamped what they wanted and I just added a little more congruity to make the decor look a little more “put together”. (Plus stampin’ is fun, even for us grown ups!) You’ll also need twine.
I used alternating white card stock and craft paper card stock. The trick to decorating with art made by kiddos is to use neutral colors like these so the banner doesn’t throw off the whole color scheme of your house. I love how it adds just a pop of red and an element of fun without being too overbearing. But, alas anything goes during this special season so just have fun with it!
The next morning I added a few doilies to the card stock pieces just to add a little depth and texture.
I hope this inspires you to head out and grab some of these items to make the season an extra special one for your littles! It certainly doesn’t take much time or money to make sure they have fun. I can’t wait to hear how you all get to crafting this week!
Looks like so much fun! You inspire me with your ideas (and a long overdue trip to target!). Can’t wait to do some crafts with my son for valentine’s day!
So happy to hear this Clarisse! Oh yes just another reason to head to Target right? I can’t wait to hear about all of the fun you have with your son!
I LOVE this! The kids are finally at an age when they enjoy doing this type of thing & REMEMBER it! I bought a similar paint thing during Christmas time & they couldn’t get enough of it! Looks like I need to head to Target… DARN 😉 & can I just ask if you will adopt me?? 🙂
Isn’t it so fun how the kids just eat up these simple and inexpensive activities? I’d love to see photos of them crafting!!! Yes Ashley I will adopt you haha welcome to the family girl!
