It feels so good to sit down and craft again! Granted I never actually sat down buttt there were a few moments of calm and that’s enough for me 😁. Since I finally painted our exterior front door, I wanted something special for the door to welcome guests. Even if it’s just the mailman this year haha.

I grabbed all of my supplies at Michaels on a whim. They had Christmas decor out but a tiny bit left of Fall decor. Just enough for this Fall wreath! I grabbed a bleached branch wreath, some muted leaves and berries and one pretty blue flower. I will say having a good pair of wire cutters will make this project move along painlessly… my hands hurt from cutting floral wire😬.

Simplify

Truly, making wreaths has intimidated me. But I think that has a lot t do with most home decor. Without thinking too hard I grabbed what caught my eye. The wonderful thing about Fall is that it is a time to appreciate the abundance of natural beauty and change. I love the organic shape of the florals and leaves here! I kept the foliage to one side and added a simple taupe plaid ribbon through the top.

Gathered

I am loving the gathered look! If I could have found dried florals the Fall wreath would have looked more Boho, which I obviously adore. The “Hello Pumpkin” holder was from Target last year and it’s still a favorite.

Cutting the ribbon. No bow this time!

Wreath Tips

Here is what I learned from making this year’s Fall Wreath:

  1. Use a good wire cutter! Don’t be a hero, or you’ll get hurt πŸ˜‚
  2. Grab inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram but don’t compare or overthink it. Every wreath is unique- find what you love and forget the rest.
  3. Decide if you enjoy a full look or a gathered look (like mine). A gathered look will require less florals aka less money spent just and FYI 😊.
  4. Think about contrast between the door and wreath. Using simple $3 sample paint I gave our front door an instant update with black paint. For this reason, I chose a white wreath for added contrast.
  5. Get creative and have fun! Make a girl’s night out of it or ask the kids to help you pick florals.

Porch Sneak Peek

Here is the wreath on our newly painted front door! I can’t wait to share the whole porch tomorrow. A few friends and I are sharing a fun Fall Porch Decor Reel on Instagram.

Front door paint color is Tricorn Black from Lowes HGTV by Sherwinn Williams.
